Chevy to Offer Unlimited Data Plan
Chevy is now offering a 4G LTE data plan with its cars sold in the US and it’ll only set you back $20 a month.
According to BBC, the car company found that data usage while in its cars was up 200% from the previous year. This new plan will be available in their entire fleet and will allow up to seven devices to be connected at one time.
This is great news for any pretty much everyone uses a car! It will help parents traveling with small children, people who are on the road alot for work, and anyone who streams music while they drive. While Chevy is leading this charge, it’s only a matter of time before this is a standard feature in all new cars.
For $20 a month3, the unlimited data plan allows Chevrolet owners to utilize the full potential of their OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and access all of their content and enjoy endless entertainment on the go without worrying about paying overages (After 22GB of data usage, AT&T may slow speeds.)
Ford just recently confirmed they are working on a similar offer that will be available in Europe in 2018. Though Ford has not yet released any pricing, they have confirmed that up to 10 devices will be able to connect at a time.
Update!
If you already use Verizon as a provider, you might be glad to know that your car doesn’t necessarily need to be a smart car to have Wi-Fi. The plans from Verizon work for Daewoo, Cielo, BMW, Jeep and most other well-known brands.
T-Mobile’s solution for Audi
T-Mobile U.S.A. recently announced its data planned for all Audi drivers using the company’s services. Similar to the one coming from AT&T, this one gives you unlimited access to the internet for $15 monthly – $450 for 30 months.
